Simply put, we think it's a dark pattern to change your system profile at such a deep level by default. We think this should be explicitly opt-in. We don't think this is at the expense of accessibility, as you should be able to toggle the checkbox when installing with little effort. |

In version 2026.1, why did you change the NVDA startup setting on the Windows login screen to disabled by default? You state this is for security reasons, but that seems illogical to me. Firstly, I have no doubt about the reliability of NVDA's code, so I install it on my system with complete peace of mind. If you are concerned about plugins, when this setting is checked by default, it is entirely up to the user to copy or not copy plugins to this screen, and the responsibility lies with the user. That leaves only the NVDA kernel, which I personally have been using for years because I consider it reliable. If you think these screens are unreliable, I can't say anything about that. However, security concerns shouldn't hinder accessibility. I want NVDA to speak on this screen after installing and restarting the system. I don't want to have to manually configure this later.
